Halloween Fika
Every year I get kinda kooky about Halloween...I plan a family Halloween party, decorate the abode and even make Wes wear a costume for the festivities. He goes along, but it's not particularly his "thing." When we were loading suitcases for our stay in Sweden, I packed along last year's Halloween costumes...two matching bowling shirts in red and black...just in case, you know.
Realizing that we would be on Fall Break on October 31, it looked bleak for the chances of a party.
But having to say good-bye to our two students from Augustana, Emily and Hannah (returning to school due to their different quarter system), it was decided we'd host a surprise fika for them with a Halloween theme. Yay! Several of the students helped out with the party decor and planning and all in attendance would bring candy, candy and more candy. Our apartment was the venue.
The black and white fabric from the clearance bin at IKEA was the perfect backdrop for the "photo booth."
The table before all the candy came.
Sophie and Ingrid made the most adorable "photo booth" props.
Thank you, previous NPU profs for the lights you left behind!
The goodbye banner for Hannah and Emily is ready for hanging.
Thank you, helpers!
And then the doorbell rings, the shoes are removed, the candy bowls are filled and it's time
to have a party!
Our apartment was rockin'!
A really, really fun game was played thanks to Kysa and Katie.
It was called
F I S H B O W L.
Then the group posed for a picture...or two.
And here are the candy bowls at the end of our fika:
H A P P Y H A L L O W E E N,
E V E R Y B O D Y!
And, good-bye,
Emily and Hannah!
We will miss you!
