Settling In to our Apartment
We absolutely LOVE our new home away from home! Our apartment/condo is very close to the campus of SVF and is located on the hilltop overlooking the city of Jonkoping and the beautiful
Lake Vattern. Our place is right above where Wes is standing with our luggage.
Our unit is on the second floor...one of the three four story buildings in the complex. It's just what you might expect to see with its open-concept design (built in pre-Joanna and Chip days) and came fully furnished and accessorized with dishes, cookware and everything we need in a one bedroom unit.
And the accent color is orange. Happy orange.
Orange you glad you came to Sweden?Yes, very much so!
This is the view of the kitchen from that couch. See that pop of orange?
Today when we were out and about I bought this pot of flowers and two orange glass lanterns to
cozy-up our al fresco dining spot on the balcony.
At IKEA, I found this orange solar-powered lamp to hang by the window. I also purchased a living plant for the coffee/candle table.
Here's our bedroom.
See the heart picture over the dresser?
This is a computer-generated collage made of the names of all 12 of us in our family now...
created by Anne; it survived the trip in the suitcase as a rolled-up cylinder.
Yes, there's orange in that, too.
We have a combination laundry room and bathroom.
The entry way came with a framed print of the Chicago skyline as seen from
Carlson Tower on the
NPU campus. Perhaps a previous occupant from North Park brought the print with them?
(This is the same apartment that other faculty members have been living in for the past several years during their "visiting faculty" time.)
Our contribution to the apartment is an office chair that Wes is thrilled to be using as
he does his classwork and such...another IKEA purchase. See that clock on the bookshelf?
We are very much watching it as we have high hopes for jet lag abandonment and not seeing the hands of time reach each and every hour over the course of the night.
How appropriate is it that this advice poster has an orange watch?
Thanks for touring our new digs!
If you are in the area, please stop by...coffee and fika are a given.

What fun!! How long will you be there? Your new digs are very cute and your added touches make it "home away from home". My grandmother was from Sweden and I hope to visit some day. Have a great stay!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon! I never realized your mom was from Sweden!
DeleteCool! We will be here until just before Christmas. It was a challenge to pack for 3 seasons worth of clothes.
Enjoy! The place looks great!
ReplyDeleteYour place looks adorable! Love the orange accents! Can't wait to continue following your blog!
