Fall Break for the Geezers - November 1-2 (London!)
Not only did we buy our red poppy at the train station today, we also bought two one-day "tube" passes for our day all over the city. It was, once again, a rainy day and we had a lot of places to visit and we wanted to stay as dry as possible! Our first destination was the Tower of London. Otherwise known as Her Magesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, it was founded towards the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest of England. William the Conqueror had the White Tower built in 1078. Since then, this fortress has been used as an armory, a royal residence, a prison, a mint and even an animal menagerie. This is the actual White Tower. It's also a great place to get a photo of the London Bridge nearby. For some, it's all about getting a photo op with a Beefeater.
