Fall Break for the Geezers - October 31 (London!)
It's Halloween today and, while no tricks, the city is full of TREATS for us!
The double-decker red busses.
The iconic red telly booths.
With an all day treat of having the sun out!!!
When we checked in to our hotel last night, I picked up some brochures on what to do in London
and found another "FREE TOUR" with tipping the guide at the end. 11:00 was the meeting time for this tour starting at Covent Garden.
The tour would take walkers to:
Trafalgar Square
Nelson's Column (I'm a Nelson, too!)
The National Gallery
St. Jame's Palace
Buckingham Palace
The Mall
Victoria Memorial
St. Jame's Park
Horse Guards Parade
Churchill War Rooms
Big Ben
Westminster Abbey
House of Parliament
COUNT US IN!
Our guide was the best!
This is the inspiration for Harry Potter's DIAGON ALLEY..even though it was filmed in Australia!
Trafalgar Square
The Mall
The Admiralty Arch. The center arch is where the Queen heads in and out in her motorcade.
Nelson's Column
The Victoria (and Albert) Memorial
St. Jame's Palace
Buckingham Palace - THE QUEEN IS IN --- Her special flag flies!!!
St. Jame's Park
Big Ben is under there somewhere!
A view of THE EYE (background)
Westminster Abbey
It was such a jolly good walk!
But we couldn't linger. We had more plans. Plans to see people in costumes that were not
trick or treaters. We had managed to get last minute matinee tickets to see a live theatre
performance of The Lion King!
It was simply wonderful and a bonus to hear young Simba and Nala speaking with British accents!
The Spaghetti Restaurant was the perfect finish for one of the most memorable Halloween
days ever. Such a treat to be in London, indeed!
