Västra Torget/Saturday Market

This market is close to a mile from where we live, but we walk to it instead of driving.  Many choose the option of bikes.

This outdoor Saturday market in Jonkoping has been going on since 1473. It's not exactly the Target we know back home - the Swedish word torget translates to square. (Vastra translates to western: this place translates to Western Square)
In my mind, this is an outdoor "Target" Square where I can find a lot of interesting stuff each Saturday:

LOADS of lingonberries and blueberries.
BINS of school supplies and random objects.  (Sadly not there on our visit this past weekend.)

PRODUCE

SPICES to attempt to translate
EDIBLE or ornamental plants
FLOWERS

BOTTOMS

TOPS to go with the bottoms
SOCKS

UNDERTHINGS

OVERTHINGS

WHERE TO STORE YOUR THINGS
The very popular FISH etc. truck

The equally popular CHEESE etc. truck

Throw in a political speech just for fun.  Have you heard about the upcoming Swedish elections?

True confession:  as much as I like to see all the
goods for sale, I love to people-watch even more!
This beats Target any day!
