Our Flickas Bake Pepparkakor for the Pippi Performers

The girls requested that we bake together sometime when they came to Sweden.
In preparation, I sewed these two aprons from IKEA dish towels.

Armed with a ***secret*** recipe, we made pepparkakor cookies with the plan of sharing them
with others.Using a water bottle for a rolling pin worked just swell.

The cookie cuters were from an IKEA woodsy animal set.
These are hedgehogs.

 These are squirrels.
Here's what the completed, sprinkled batch looks like after their time baking in the oven.

The next day we headed off with the cookies to share with the College Line Swedes following the Pippi Longstocking play they performed for our flickas.  This tradition was started for the Lindahl family in 1989 as Elder (Wes's father) had his College Line Swedes present Pippi to our 6 1/2 year old daughter, Anne, when we visited Sweden! In fact, one of the current student's Mom was in that same line in 1989!

Here's the cast of the Pippi performers with E and M. They should take this show on the road as it was so good!  I laughed so hard I nearly cried.  Pippi was a guy with his hair done in braids and he had the trademark freckles on his face.  The other characters were excellent as well.

The Pippi cast went above and beyond responding to our flickas requesting of  doing a "jump" picture!
Such fun for these flickas!!

***You can ask E or M about our secret recipe, but I'm not spilling the beans!***
