Ninety Two Persons Go to Copenhagen - Day 2

It's now day #2 of our class trip to Copenhagen.  This is the view we woke up to from our hostel room - do you see the red roller coaster from Tivoli Gardens to the left?

After a good, but crazy-crowded breakfast at our hostel, we headed out to
Christiania.
It was like far out, man.

I'll let Rick Steves explain it a little bit on this link.

We had a guided tour given by "Anders the Storyteller" as surnames are not used here in Christiania.  He led us through the area of former military abandoned bunkers which were taken over by squatters in 1971 who wanted freedom from rules, freedom to do weed and
freedom to live a lifestyle of their choice. About 800-900 people live here now.
The rules are simple:
HAVE FUN
DON'T RUN
NO PHOTOS
(oops, I'm such a rule-breaker!)

This visit left me with a lot of questions.
It also left me feeling old.

Contrast this visit with the next one we made (College Line only) to a world-known corporation
Novo Nordisk.
They are leaders in the research and manufacturing of drugs for diabetes.

Jeppe Torp Vestentoft gave an informative presentation and the students asked great questions!

And now, one last stop: Den Bla Planet - Northern Europe's largest aquarium. Just the right note to end the trip with colorful fish, a rain forest, and playful otters.

This must mean we are now ready for a longer trip...Rome is next!
