Looking for the House and What We Found Along the Way

When Wes was a fourth grader, his family lived in Sweden for almost a year while his Dad did research on Anders Nygren.  This is their rented home in Bjarred - the Baltic Sea was their front "yard" on the southern coast and near to the the university city of Lund.

Wes wanted to see this house again and last weekend was the perfect time to do so.
With no exact address for the Bjarred home, we set off in search of this gem by the sea. Guide books in hand, we knew there were places to stop along the way for quaint villages and towns, museums, cathedrals, beach views and beautiful scenery.

In addition to the Emigrant Museum in Vaxjo, we went to a Glass Museum and the 12th-century cathedral there.

The interior of the church is lovely; not ornate.

Off to one side, however, is one of my favorite art pieces: the TREE OF LIFE.
The glass work on it is stunning.

Later that night we arrived in Karlshamn to visit with the relatives. The following morning we headed south to find Wes's boyhood home and see more sights.

Many signs for beaches came up and we chose this one randomly.

Pine trees, little cottages, oh my!
And we had the whole beach to ourselves!

Certainly in his "Happy Place" with a beach and dark chocolate!

But wait!  There's more before we get to our hotel that late afternoon:
Ystad
What a quaint little town.

And, finally, Bjarred.

A lot of searching went on in this town by the Baltic Sea. Up and down the coastal roads searching for the home with the light brown bricks and chimney in the front of the house.  Repeat.
And, it's a no go.  Wes recognized the beach area, but the houses that "went" with them were now
bigger and newer.

But, still, he got out of the car and requested this photo be taken as a way of remembering.
Isn't that the way it goes sometimes?
