Norway Bound: Part 2

Leaving Oslo to go to Flam, Norway to see the fjords was not easy.  Our train was delayed by one hour causing us to miss the train connection through the beautiful Myrdal area.  Six coach buses were needed to transport our group instead.  Flexibility is the name of the game, and that included dealing with a forecast of rain. It took us several hours to get to our boat. A tasty meringue and cup of coffee eased our transition.  Fika is the best!
"Norway in a Nutshell" is the way to go if you need help in figuring out how to see the fjords and make transportation connections and lodging choices.  There are a lot of choices...as always, we prefer to use Rick Steves as our unofficial tour guide.
As you can see, the weather was wet when we embarked.  Somehow, it made the fjord experience quite ethereal.  There were times the rain stopped and started up again.  With rain gear, we still were able to go out on the boat decks and take it all in.  It was an experience of beauty that I will never forget.  We saw little villages, numerous waterfalls, and mountains rising steeply from the shoreline.
And a lot of people taking pictures!

We loved this experience!

Two hours later, we boarded a bus in Gudvangen and headed to Bergen, Norway where we would spent the night.  The Bergen locals have a saying about the 300+ days of rain there, "There's no such thing as bad weather --- just inappropriate clothing."  Were we prepared? Our only luggage were the backpacks we wore on this four day trip.

This is our first look at Bergen after the bus trip.
